How it All Began!

Hi, My name is Arthur Holmes and I made a huge contibution to the theory of Seafloor spreading. I don't mean to brag, but if I didn't mention the existence of convection currents in the mantle of the Earth, then no one would have accepted Wegener's continental drift theory.

Plant 1: Wait, why are we moving? Plant 2: Haven't you heard of continental drift? Plant1 : No, what's that? Plant 2: Well, we 're moving because there are currents of heat and thermal expansion in the Earth's mantle. It's forcing us away from each other!

Mountain building takes place where the convection currents are descending. Then ocean floor develops where the gaps are, since the continetns moved .

Convection currents flowing horizontally dragged the continents along with them, causing two forces to shape the ocean floors,. These forces are the pull and push force.
